What is the Cultural Ambassador Program? Cultural Ambassadors are committed to assisting Diversity Focus in creating an inclusive Cedar Rapids/ Iowa City Corridor that values, nurtures, attracts, and retains people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. Ambassadors provide service and a sense of community to visitors and current or new employees and residents to the area.
Ambassadors:
-Serve as an early point of contact for those considering relocating or who have recently arrived.
-Connect individuals with other individuals or groups of similar interests or backgrounds.
-Provide first-hand knowledge of local community information and resources.
-Assist individuals in learning about the community, organizations, government, educational entities and other services.
-Serve as a bridge to their organizations by inviting individuals to events, and sharing the views of individuals in their communities.
Newcomers to the Corridor pair up with people in the community. Learn about culture, customs, hospitals, churches, places to shop, restaurants etc. Request to be paired with a person/family from the same or different cultural background as you. This is a rare opportunity to meet people, know the community and culture, and also find out what resources are available to you. We will make matches based on selected criteria found in the sign-up sheet, and language if requested!

WHEN: The program runs year round and is available to all newcomers (employees, students, adults, and children) moving to the Corridor.
